The joint annual conference of the German Society for Biomedical Engineering (DGBMT) and the three nations conference on medical physics, including the German, Austrian and Swiss Societies for Medical Physics (DGMP, ÖGMP, SGSMP) will take place from September 10 to 13, 2017 at the Congress Center Dresden. The scientific program will reflect the increasing networking of biomedical technology and medical physics in their clinical application in diagnostics and therapy.
The conference includes 62 scientific sessions, of which 12 are joint sessions of biomedical engineers and medical physicists. The topics vary widely: from imaging techniques, image processing and image-based therapies, to medical measurement technology, supportive systems for organs and patients and robot-assisted therapy.
An important technological trend, which will be one of the conference’s main topics, is the increasing connection between radiation technology and imaging methods. The aim of this image-based radiotherapy is a higher precision, which means radiation should strictly be focused on the tumor, to protect healthy tissue, reduce side effects and increase the therapy’s success and the patient’s quality of life.
Presidents of the conference:
Prof. Wolfgang Enghardt (OncoRay) and Prof. Hagen Malberg (Institute of Biomedical Engineering)
